Rotarians and their families volunteer their time to ensure the Victor Harbor Art Show runs smoothly every year, now in it’s 46th year.

For many years now members and friends of Rotary Victor Harbor, plant new trees and maintain the Geoff Walker Reserve, Victor Harbor SA.

Ocean to Outback Cycle

The Ocean to Outback Cycle Ride raised $60,000 for Rotary Mental Health - It was organised by Mark Cox and members of Rotary Victor Harbor.

Red Hot Summer Concert at Kent Reserve, Victor Harbor 2023 Rotarians - Helen, Judith and Julie collect cans and bottles and raised over $5,000 for local charities.

Each year our members help to serve hot meals at Crozier Cafe with the Salvation Army Victor Harbor SA.

Club History

Our club has recently established a new History Committee with the purpose of collating as much history of the Rotary Club of Victor Harbor, from the past 74 years since the club’s inauguration on 8th August 1947. We are instigating this now ahead of the club’s 75th charter anniversary – to be held on 3 September 2022 – and the club is looking to update and celebrate its local history. We are asking members of the public with access to any Rotary photos or items of interest to share them, so they can be acknowledged as part of the upcoming milestone.

Rotary supports the local community in many ways including providing regular financial donations and thousands of volunteer hours. Some local contributions include maintaining cancer respite home Bradley’s Place, revegetation works at local parks, planning and funding the construction of the Kings Beach viewing platform and supporting events such as the Victor Harbor Christmas Pageant.

The club also created and has run the Victor Harbor Art Show for the past 42 years. It is Australia’s largest outdoor art exhibition. It continues to break all records, with the sales of artwork in excess of $300,000, over 10,000 people attending the annual event over nine days each January, viewing in excess of 1,600 paintings on display.

New Surf Rescue Boat

Launching of the new Jet Surf Rescue Boat at Port Elliot Surf Life Saving Club 1988.

In this lovely photo we see Jean Bruce pouring the champagne, with husband Bob Bruce, president of the P.E.S.L.S.C siting with cap and jacket in the cockpit of the boat. Our club donated $15,000 towards the construction of the boat back in 1988.

The Wishing Well

The Wishing Well was erected in 1950 on behalf of the Club by Rotarian Bert Dolphin. The well attracted the local community as well as visitors to Victor Harbor. It was emptied at intervals and yielded scores of murky coins which add to the thousands of dollars already collected.
